Apparently there's a new online web-based browser game called Zombie Pandemic . Its still in its BETA stage so not 100% finished but its playable and I haven't encountered any glitches yet.

So if you're interested sign up.

My character is currently called Spanners, he's the leader of the Dead Community

It's certainly more enjoyable then Urban Dead particularly the combat mechanic. It is a far more interactive and interesting game, with some cool visuals and an ability to select a premade avatar. Also you can accept quests so you're not just aimlessly wandering about trying to scavenge supplies and kill some zombies which seemed to be the only purpose of Urban Dead. Another thing is you've got something like 900 action points a day compared to the 30 you get with U.D and you can travel across the map not just one building/grid square at a time

I'm really getting into this game now. It is a lot easier to upgrade your character and collect loot compared to that piece of crap Urban Dead. Combat is a lot more interesting and I've racked myself up a nice tally of zombie kills, not to mention the wide variety of firearms and melee weapons you can grab. Also being able to undertake quests makes the game a whole lot more engaging.

Actually you start out with 960 stamina points then it drops down to about 480, once you use up the extra points.

I was heavily into Urban Dead [The Malton Fire Department was actually my creation, anyone that played the game seriously has likely run into the fire dept, or at the very least the DEM] and so I was keen to give this a shot, but it seems to me the sign up screen is broken, as there are no text fields to enter data, or any continue buttons.

Really?! Perhaps the server may've just been down that day. Whilst I didn't create a new character I just then tried going through the new user process and it seemed to work fine. Have you got the latest version of Firefox?

So did anyone else get into this game?

After I reached a high level with my original character I left the game for a while since it was still in the Beta phase and there didn't really seem to be any end point. I decided to check back with it the other day, and they've upgraded the interface and put in better artwork. I think its pretty close to being completely finished and I do like what they've done with it compared to what it was previously. If anyone else decides they want to play let me know and I'll try to organise a clan. For a name I was thinking of either just "The Dead Community" or something with a bit more flair like "The D.C Militia" or "The D.C Scavvs". Otherwise if you can think of a better name feel free to recommend one.

Update I have created a Clan on the new Zombie Pandemic Server called "The Dead Community" and I have created a safehouse on one of the maps called the D.C Outpost. If you're interested in this game at all let me know and I'll add you to the Clan.

I'm also trying to find a suitable image that could be used for the Dead Community Clan so if anyone has any ideas or creations they'd like to see I'm all ears.

I want to join this, but I'm not sure what it entails. Could you give me a rundown of how this game is played? I definitely wanna do this.

It really isn't that complex. Picture Urban dead but with a bigger map (3 maps to be precise) and better graphics. Travel around kill zombies collect loot and level up. Another great thing compared to Urban dead is you aren't just restricted to travelling one square at a time you can fast travel between destinations once you've cleared a path through that pesky "fog of war".
Also there are no classes each new character starts off with a modest pistol, a knife and some health items and you can level your character however you wish.
For those pictures above don't let all those stats and numbers distract you. Combat is turn based. With combat all you have to do is select attack (and how many times you want to repeat that attack) and depending on your skill level it'll let you know the chance to hit your enemy. Or you can try and flee from your attacker if you don't feel like fighting. if you don't want to initiate fights you can just travel around scavenging, but you may occassionally experience a random encounter where a zombie will attack you.

Another great thing is you have shops (for buying new and better weapons/armour supplies) and places where you can accept missions for extra XP and rewards. Also at some of those places you can train your character up.

If you start a new character there's a tutorial at the beginning that shows you the ropes and how to work the game mechanics so don't be dissuaded by all the stats.

I accidentally exited the browser during the tutorial though, so when I logged back in it was gone and now I'm left to figure the ins and outs on my own haha.

Don't worry about it, it shouldn't take long to learn what to do. If you're not sure about anything or what does what don't hesitate to ask.

I've approved your character. Now I think all you need to do is accept the invitation, and the location of the safehouse will appear on your map as a pink/purple square, as opposed to a flashing pink square which represents your location.

At the moment though I'd recommend undertaking a few missions first before trying to make your way to the safehouse.
