Agreed, that would have made a much better scenario, and the shock of encountering them earlier- while looking for supplies- would have definitely helped the story.

It just doesn't make sense that ONE zombie somehow gets intelligent while the rest are still as dumb as a box of rocks. With Bub it makes sense, as he was Logan's "pet". Big Daddy had likely been rotting in that gas station for who knows how long.

Not only him, sure he's the most intelligent but the others also became smarter than the zombies in Dawn and Day, they can use tools.

They have the capacity to learn but I doubt they wouldn't know how to use the tools without their lame grunting teacher, Big Daddy.

Karen Cooper even stabs her mother. I believe the news even says something to the effect that they can use basic tools, etc.

Hinzman uses a brick to smash out the car window in night. And Dr. Rausch says this in Dawn: I should've added that Big Daddy shows them how to use tools like guns(Number 9 comes to mind) & also shows Butcher how to use his cleaver to cut through that wooden barricade. Without his guidance, they'd only know how to use their tools in a primitive manner as bludgeons. I should've been more descriptive in my initial post. Long story short, Big Daddy sucks. He's the poor man's Bub.

Big Daddy was embarrassingly bad IMHO. The whole concept is undoubtedly a good one and if it had been done well as per Bub in DOTD it could have worked a treat. But let's face it GAR missed a wonderful opportunity to make it and the film as a whole something more memorable. All that said Number 9 was fit and I even fancied her with a chunk of her face missing, although you guys haven't seen my ex!
