I almost prefer O'Dea's version of Barbara. It makes more sense that she has gone cold on everyone after seeing her brother killed in a cemetery that she is freighted of. While Tallman was great as Barb, and it was very enjoyable to see her rise up and do something, it really didn't add anymore depth to the storyline. Someone freezing up and becoming zombie food is slightly more believable. Especially during a time when people would take tranquilizers on a regular basis. They were used to just succumbing to the bad shit going on.

The new Babs was supposed to represent how women had changed from the '60s to the '90s.
I liked the idea...but in retrospect I think Patty Tallman went a little too far with the character. She's always argued that the new Barbara was a survivor, but she was more than that. She THRIVED in the new world, she wasn't just dealing with it.

She went from deathly affraid to rising up like a damn gladiator. It just didn't fly as well as it should have.

I prefer Judith O'Dea myself. But I love Patricia Tallman's take on the character as well.

I think that if Tallman would have been stoic from the jump, it would have came off a little better. I like the idea of being numb like O'Dea, it just makes more sense.

The scared Barbara who's just seen her brother get killed and is now frozen with fear is much better and more believable than a scared barbara who snap's out of it and grabs a rifle...rambo style

Tough choice but I'll go with O'Dea at the end of the day since I pretty much agree with sixxlee.
Tallman was awesome though. If this were to happen, I'd like to be trapped with her & her badassness.

Especially with the whole horny librarian thing. If she was that open to violence, you just KNOW that she'd ride you dick into the ground if you could just get that pussy purring, if you know what I mean.

It it so funny how different the Barbs were from Night 68 to Night 90. The Barb in night 68 basically fell apart and never got over the shock, while the Babs in the 1990 version became a strong woman character. That clearly shows the difference in times from 1968 to 1990.

I'll take Patricia Tallman anytime over O'Dea. O'Dea was catatonic most of the time, to me was more of an annoyance.

I've done a 180 & prefer Pat Tallman to Judith O'Dea. I still dig O'Dea though.

Just like everything else, I flip flop on it. I guess it depends on what kind of mood I am in. Overall, I like the remake a tad more than the original. It's has that 90's horror vibe to it that I love.

I usually flip flop with the original & remake too. This is a rarity with me regarding originals & remakes too...considering most remakes suck with the exception of a handful.

Amen to the remake suckage. I re-watched the MBV remake after it hit DVD. It didn't hold up too well. I enjoyed it in theaters, but for some reason I could hardly sit through it in a 2nd viewing.
