Ok peoples whats your favorite opening in the Dead Series. I must say while I'm not fond of Land I will agree that the first 4 Dead films just had amazing openings! Its pretty hard for me to choose right now sadly. The openings are just so amazing. As for Diary I ain't saying nothing.

The sirens at the beginning are really awesome. In a ranking, I would go. Day Diary Dawn Land Night[/glow]

Night of the Living Dead's opening in the Evans City Cemetery. Legendary.

Gotta go with the opening of Dawn.
A blood red screen, pulling out to reveal a waking Fran amidst a world literally collapsing around her. Panic, chaos, yelling, confusion... it's in your face right from the very start, and I have to say, it's depicted almost too realistically.

I like Night, for it's creepy factor.

I like Night, for it's creepy factor. [glow=red,2,300]I have never been able to think of Night as creepy, mostly humorous with all its continuaty issues and bad acting.[/glow]

Tough call. I think they're all great. NoTLD- is just classic in its simpleness. DawnoTD- is effective in (like it was mentioned already) how realistic it felt. DayoTD- was just outright scary to me when i first saw it. Gave me such a feeling of hopelessness. LoTd- i liked (this may sound dumb) the color of the opening scene. Just that grey/blue tone and zombies trying to play instruments was cool. And after waiting 20 years for a new Romero zombie film, i'm pretty sure i'd like any opening scene he did. Admitted fanboy here. DiaryoTD- was pretty neat cause it was the zombie epidemic starting up again for the first time, if that makes any sense dschoenike

Night, Dawn, and Day each have 2 votes with Land and Diary none. All is right with the world. ;D

I actually enjoy the Day opening. Even though it's not my favorite of the series.
To be frank... all of the openings are great. Even Diary, I liked that opening too. Seems like GAR started on a great peak there and then just dropped off the edge of a cliff.

I can't disagree with that.

Day was pretty much the first Romero zombie flick I ever saw, and prior to it I had never really seen a zombie apocalypse as depicted in Day's intro. The opening just blew me away seeing deserted streets and a city in ruin overrun by the undead.
EDIT: I should note Night was the First Romero zombie flick I ever saw but I was too young to appreciate it and fully understand it.

Day however it's a close call with Dawn. That opening scene with everything going tits up at WGON and the eerie Goblin soundtrack was great. Day was about as close to a perfect horror film for me as I could ever have hoped to see. I feel kind of privileged to have seen it at the time and having been able to watch it at my leisure for the last 20 plus years. Point being the opening sequence is right up there with the rest of the film.

Night, with Dawn coming in a close second.
I really like the Dawn '04 intro, as well.
