Anyone else love the opening sequence to LAND as much as me? I LOVED it! First with the old fashioned radio, then the eerie sequence with the zombies (the band, old lady, etc.)... it was just classic Romero. In fact, I'd say the first few minutes of LAND rank up there with the original trilogy. That's not to say the rest of LAND was bad, but it definitely wasn't as good as that first 5 minutes or so.

Yeah I loved that intro too, it was pretty cool seeing all those cars desert their neighbourhoods in drones. It would've been nice though if he could've used some clips from his other movies in the intro, but I thought I heard there were some legal issues with it or something.

Oh yeah, it was great. It reminded me of the beginning of Day. Totally desolate. I enjoy Land quite a bit.

I loved the opening as well. It was nice seeing something so rad, especially when I first saw Land in theaters.

Yeah, the opening was probably the best scene in the entire film...then it went downhill from there for me....

It would have been better if they would have taken the shot on Big Daddy when they had the chance.

It would have been better if they would have taken the shot on Big Daddy when they had the chance. Definitely. His grunting & "rounding up the troops" really got on my nerves. Riley should've popped him right when he came out of his garage.

The opening sequence was the only part I truly enjoyed, I forgot what studio Romero said was responsible for making it but they definatley need to be hired to do the intro for the next film.
Was stop-motion used to animate the rotting corpse in the intro?

Welcome to the boards, gasparilla!
Not sure on the stop motion... haven't watched LAND in a while, but from what I remember it kinda looks like time lapse... although that isn't at all practical time-wise. Most likely stop motion as you've guessed.

I love LAND quite a bit. I'd definitely say that the opening was classic Romero like in Day Of The Dead, when Sarah and Miguel run through the deserted streets. I'd also say LAND was the goriest of the series.

I disagree that it's the goriest. But the opening sequence was good.

I disagree that it's the goriest. The unrated director's cut definitely is.

I disagree that it's the goriest. But the opening sequence was good. Yeah it's definitely not the goriest. Day & Dawn get that title. I'd say that Land would be right behind them in third place though.

The best line in the whole movie is in the opening sequence: As long as we're alive they ain't never gonna run out of food. The day they do, it'll mean only one thing: We're all dead.
