I'm surprised noone has posted this one yet. Zombie is probably my favorite non Romero zombie movie, and in some ways I think Fulci's classic outshines Dawn of the Dead. The zombies seem much more menacing and have less "humanity" than Romeros zombies for one. The makeup and gore is a little better as well. On the down side the acting and dubbing are horrible (the movie was made for around $75 I think). And the final fight scene where the survivors are making a stand at the infirmary is laughable at best. Still this movie has some of the creepiest, goriest moments ever caught on film. The splinter in the eye, the zombie with the worms in the eyeball, and the shark vs zombie are some of the best moments in horror history.

LOL $75
I really didn't care for this film. The only thing I liked about it was the diving scene.

I should clarify that Zombie was made for $75 in food stamps and a case of Lucky Lager

I actually sort of dig this movie. Yes, a lot of it is goofy and laughable, but it has a certain charm to it. The shark scene is CLASSIC, not to mention the aforementioned splinter in the eye. For me the worst part is that it seems to drag on and on.

I didnt mind the slow parts as much as the bad dubbing and horrible camera work. The acting really wasnt that bad compared to other movies I have seen. I still think that the zombies in this one were actually a little better done than the ones in Dawn but its just an opinion.

I love this movie but it is pretty slow-paced. The gore is great. Probably my favourite Fulci movie of all-time but that could change soon since I'm really digging The Beyond quite a bit.
Love the score to this too.
I own the Shriek Show 25th Anniversary DVD. I recommend it! In the past, I had it on VHS as well as DVD(Anchor Bay & Blue Underground).

Wow, what a difference. The Shreik Show and BU transfers are much nicer. The only thing I like about the AB transfer is the color. Seems a bit darker. The image quality is kind of sucky. AB is kind of hit and miss with their transfers. Great on some, bad on others.

I usually lump this film along with Romero's Dead series (being an unofficial sequel to Dawn anyway), but it is the only zombie film ever made that is not made by Romero, yet just as good as Romero's Dead films.

www.myspace.com/moca777Listen to the song entitled "Flesh Eater." It's not overly amazing but has a good beat to it. Not as good as the original song either. Still, it's neat.

Great film. How about that calypso music on the boat?
Great main music score though. I love that electronic droning tune.
I never thought this was such a slow moving movie at all, but it's a few years since I watched it.

Besides the scenes you mentioned I also liked the gruesome scene where the zombies eat the doctor's wife, and where the zombies rising out of the ground with the worms in their eyes.
