That poster is great. Nothing about "modern" posters looks better. Some modern posters look great too. They're all posters... look at them all as one group. Tell me, Omer... what poster do you think looks better than this one? As an art major, I'm quite curious. And Chris, CONGRATS on the 2,000 posts man! Very cool! No there is a difference this is a retro poster they are different from the modern style of posters, I personally prefer the modern look.

Yeah I get that they're from different time periods. I'm just saying they're all posters, let's treat em as such. Post an example of a poster you like better.

Most modern posters are ugly, lame, horribly photoshopped, & uninspired much like the over usage of CGI. They go hand in hand. A lot of them just have the cast pictured on the front looking all serious with the title looming over their heads. I miss the days when posters were actually drawn by an artist or not made using a damn computer. Ugly.

That's what I like, that they're done by computers , Photoshopped . I love modern stuff and modern technology. It looks so more advanced and impressive. Same thing with CGI. But it's all a matter of opinion. One man's rubbish is another man's treasure.

I can't complain too much about creating posters with a computer... I'm hoping to be a graphic designer afterall. But there is a line, and I do have standards. Some movies SHOULD have hand drawn art. Omer, that poster (while I'm not crazy about it) does fit with the movie. A good example is the poster for The 40 Year Old Virgin. It's made using a computer and I think it's perfect for the film. While I personally love older posters much much more, I'm not going to say that every single movie poster should look retro. I think the poster for The Crazies is flat out awesome. I don't think it would look better if it looked like the poster for Knowing or something like that. That's just my opinion on the matter.

I can't imagine Knowing having a poster like Return of the Jedi.

Haha lamely photoshopped posters & CGIs are a lot worse than rubbish to me. More like shit instead of rubbish so the pile of shit in my lawn is a treasure to you? Tony, your stuff isn't lame & soulless like these ugly ass posters you see for most of the modern horror shitfests. You actually put effort into your stuff & it looks good. I remember that one bright looking Dawn poster you made. I love that piece.

Thanks man.
I have made my fair share of poop though. But at least I can admit that it's shit. When something made in Photoshop isn't good, it's complete shit. You gotta do it right or don't do it at all.

I'm indifferent to how movie posters are made as long as they look awe inspiring. There's some great photoshop one's out there but one thing I despise is when they CGI the hell out of the actors faces and bodies. It just makes them look unnatural Exhibit 1: Exhibit 2: Exhibit 3: Here's a list of someone's greatest 100 movie posters ever made. I think its roughly half and half of drawn vs photoshopped posters www.tccandler.com/columns/100_greatest_movie_posters.htm

Love or hate the films, the last two Halloween posters were garbage. On the flip side, I think that House of 1000 Corpses was a nice poster with a gritty, dirty feel.

The shitty quality of the last two Halloween movie posters mirrors the shitty quality of both movies.

They'll photoshop his head on a slimmer body. It's so bad that it's hilarious!
