Well, who?

Tough choice, but I have to go with Duane. Playing Ben, especially in that time, is damn impressive. His acting was solid--so much in fact that I can't picture him being a "real person" who had a different life. He just really seems like Ben.
Tony Todd does do an amazing job though. I give him mad credit for taking on that role when Duane Jones was renowned for it.
Both were really great, but when it comes down to it I have to say that Duane has the edge.

It's hard to pick since both put in amazing performances.

I couldn't decide.
Tony did more with the character...but Duane's pimpin' yellow sweater made him the Man!

I agree with all of the above. Jones playing that role is really heroic. Todd just does an awesome job, and is really just a 90s version of Jones' portrayal.

I gotta go with Tony Todd all the way. He was tough as nails but you got the feeling he could have been your neighbor. He was multidimensional in every way.

Well...in terms of performance, neither was very good. Jones was pretty wooden, like most 60s actors. Hardly "heroic". And Todd over-acted like a mother-fucker. I still love them both, though....although I'd love to see some real actors take on parts like that.

By "heroic" I meant in overall terms. When you factor in the social standing at the time and see the role he takes in the film, it is indeed rather heroic. Todd was displaying what we would all display at a time like that. I would probably go over the edge, like any other.

It's hard to pick since both put in amazing performances. They were both quite excellent indeed, so it is not possible for me to choose either.

Both played the part excellently. Dodd takes the crown for this one. He managed to put a lot more feeling into the character.

Well, Todd was a little more vibrant with the role. But for the time, Jones was second to none.

Tony Todd is a much better actor then Duane Jones, but I really enjoyed them both. Tony was more sympathetic, while Duane was stronger, so they both have their strengths.

If you ask me, Tony Todd "hands-down" he was tough, energetic, brave, and was the person to get things done.

If you ask me, Tony Todd "hands-down" he was tough, energetic, brave, and was the person to get things done. Yes, but the exact same could be said of Duane Jones, no?

It's still up in there air for me. I can't pick. At least both choices are great so you can't go wrong with either if you ask me.
