And all the fine conversation on here, I felt the need to re-watch Dawn last night. While I'll always love the film, I think I'm getting more nitpicky as I get older and found myself questioning things in the movie. Such as:
1) Sweater Vest zombie (the one who first climbs the ladder at the climax) was in the mall at the beginning of the film, too. So, if they cleared out the mall after locking it up, how is he still around at the end? Did he hide out in the restroom at the Orange Julius?
2) Tom Savini....great makeup guy; horrific actor. Stay behind the camera, Tom. (Just my opinion).
3) We make fun of Flyboy a lot (righfully), but how about Roger? He was losing it as far back as the tenement building and it only got worse. Imagine how screwed they'd have been if Peter hadn't come along?
4) Does Ken Foree just want to kick the crap out of the wardrobe person for this movie? High water jeans and a yellow tank top? I know it was the 70's, but still.....
5) The scene where they're shopping (and the pie fight scene)....I know they had power and all, but how long can perishables stay THAT fresh looking? We're talkign months there....
6) I found more ammunition for when someone argues that the undead shouldn't ever be fast or use tools because Romero never portrayed them that way. Just like in Night, there's fairly quick zombies and at least one using a tool (the crowbar as a bludgeon in this case).
7) I always haed the blood mpressure machine scene, but now I hate it even more that I realize that this idiot supposedly ran to the machine AFTER the undead were in the mall....in force....and were already turning the tide of the battle. It felt so forced.
Still a great movie (even given the campy biker invasion and noticeably altered ending), but you can't help but notice.
Which I'm sure you all have 100 times over and are wondering why the new guy thinks he's bringing enlightenment to the boards.....
