Did everyone else realise John Amplas was in this movie? I only just found it out the other day when I was listening to the Dawn commentary. I mean I knew the guy clearly was a white guy with all that makeup, but I had no idea it John Amplas By the way was it actually Wooley that shot Martinez?

Yep. A nice cameo by Mr. Amplas. I've known this for some time & it's just hilarious as hell, especially after his performance in Martin.
He's also in a movie called Midnight from John Russo. I haven't watched it yet but I have it on DVD.

Yeah I also knew about this for a while. I remember when I first found out I was stunned. Never saw it coming!

I heard it on the DVD commentary by Romero himself that it was Amplas and IMDB seems to confirm it.

As for GAR, no offense or nothing to the dude who created this film but, If we sat and listened to savini and GAR reminisce about the dawn shoot we'd be lucky if a fraction of it was accurate. Jeez, have you ever seen the ultimate edition commentary with them and chris. They struggle to remember details that we could come up with in a split second. ;D

It's definitely Amplas. Looks just like him but with a crapload of make-up, a wig, bandana, fake eyebrows, & potentially fake facial hair. The facial hair may be real since he was sporting a goatee in Day of the Dead...unless that was fake!

I originally heard many moons ago that John Amplas played the Z that grabs Peter in the Mall who he then proceeds to throw a dummy of over the balcony.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was since I'm sure he helped out a good deal with Dawn. He was also the casting director on Dawn. I bet he hung around on set often.
