Unfortunately I think you may be onto something. If he continues on much longer he runs the risk of devolving into self parody.

He was teetering on the edge with Diary (IMHO) but pulled himself back with Survival.

I think you might be. I am very critical of Diary, it was just flat for me. I really enjoyed Survival quite a bit and thought that he kind of got back on the right track (not that it is anywhere near the original trilogy or LAND for that matter). Some on here like Diary for what it is, I still can't accept it and in turn, embrace Survival.

Wow, am I the only one who found Diary much better than Survival? Not that eaither was great, but really? I just wasn't a huge fan of the mockumentary style of it. For all his other movies they've just been straight up stories and it felt out of place amongst the Dead series.

For all his other movies they've just been straight up stories and it felt out of place amongst the Dead series. See, for me it was the typical GAR social commentary. NotLD had the unintentional race relations, Dawn had commentary on consumerism, Day the mistrust of the military, Land the fear of big business crushign the little man and Diary the dendency (sp?) on social media. Besides, if this were to happen nowadays, there would be hundreds of people too stupid to put down their phone/flipcam and pick up a rifle..... And again, the girl was HOT!
