What makes it worse is who's writing it.

Alvarez or Cody?
I've never heard anything about either.

Diablo Cody, she was the writer of Jennifer's Body and Juno so I think she's a good choice.

Meh, there could be worse choices than Diablo Cody to write *coughrobzombiecough*. I'll check it out but it won't compare to the original at all.
Sam Raimi > Diablo Cody and most things

The original was a classic that is hard to top but i'll give it a chance. I hope Bruce Campbell returns, at least have a cameo.

Ash IS Evil Dead. If they do this thing without Bruce as Ash (as the main character), I'm out.

I'd do Diablo Cody.

Diablo Cody? The chick flick writer? really? I never saw Jennifer's body so I have no idea of her talent for horror, but I'm not exactly thrilled with excitement with her being a co-writer. Particularly since its doubtful Bruce "The Man" Campbell will be involved at all. I don't know about you guys but it seems like each ensuing year my childhood gets destroyed and raped by hollywood a little bit more

I don't know about you guys but it seems like each ensuing year my childhood gets destroyed and raped by hollywood a little bit more I think this isn't true. Hollywood doesn't destroy, or rape anything. All they do is update the old classics for modern audiences. But the original films remain intact ! you can watch them as much as you want and never watch the new versions if you don't want to ! Hollywood is the leading movie making industry in the world and they rock !

What they are doing by making these shitty remakes is destroying the image of the first film. How many fans of the new Texas Chainsaw have any respect for the original? Very few. By creating "updated" versions of classics, they are in turn causing the classic to be outdated, no longer relevant and worthless.

No one holds guns to our heads forcing us to watch these remakes/reboots, but everytime our classics get remade and replaced its a punch in the dick for the goodwill we've built up towards a franchise and its hitting the reset button on the story line. It wouldn't bother me if they just borrowed the story or concept from other movies, put their own spin on it and then gave them their own titles, but its this insistence to maintain the brand name that annoys me.
