I've always thought that NIGHT, DAWN, and DAY were part of the same universe, whereas LAND, DIARY and SURVIVAL were all part of another. It even makes sense with the titles... the original trilogy all deal with time while the 2nd trilogy are all... something else.
Anyway, do you think George will come to his senses and pick up after DAY by making a DUSK or TWILIGHT? I mean he has to know by now what the general consensus is about the quality between the two groups.
Oh and George... do us a favor and go back to the practical effects.

What? I thought Land is in the same universe of the original trilogy. Well you even get the biker Blade (Savini) from Dawn who comes back as a zombie.

I personally don't consider it part of the original trilogy. The Blade cameo was just a nod to the fans, not actual continuity smart guy.

I'd actually go on record saying that Land does exist in that same universe due to the appearance of Blades as well as the opening of the film with "Some time ago." They have the vintage radios that you'd see in Night. But Land still isn't as good as the first three.
Now Survival and Diary are definitely tied together. You can even link Land with them as set after both films and the character of Brubaker could very well be Sarge. Who knows though?

I would class Land in the same universe too.
Interesting point about Brubaker being Sarge aside from the same actor, because you also have Mike(Shawn Roberts - the scavnger who shoots himself at the beginning after going with Cholo) who was Tony Ravello in Diary. You could argue that that's where they both wound up after their separate adventures, though it seems silly why Tony would want to use an alias of Mike considering he has nothing to hide. Also did anyone realise Mulligan's son is also The Kid/Boy from Survival.

Night DAWN Day
Land
Diary Survival
For me land is just a "hanger-on" as I'm not sure where it really belongs. I think GAR put a "Blade look alike" in Land just for the giggles.

That's how I see it, Fleshy.
LAND just seems too... I don't know. I like it well enough, but it just doesn't seem to fit in perfectly with the original trilogy. It might very well be intended to, but just for me personally I don't prefer to group it with them. I'd rather see a proper sequel to DAY that used the same naming conventions from the original three.

I hear ya. Land is a good enough movie, it just doesn't fit in anywhere. It sure as hell doesn't belong anywhere near the original trilogy, but it just doesn't mesh well with Diary/Survival either.

I suppose I see where you guys are coming from. Night, Dawn and Day all take place during the midst of the crisis or at least when there's still a belief society is still running. Same with Diary and survival. Whilst Land takes place in an post apocalyptic world. Society has completely broken down and been rebuilt into places like Fiddlers Green. It's a completely different landscape.
You could argue that Day takes place in the aftermath too; however, as far as all the inhabitants of the Bunker are concerned Society and Government is still possibly functioning its just that they're cut off and don't have the means to investigate further.
