I got this idea from another forum.
We have done the whole could you survive a zombpocalypse discussion in various forms over the life of this forum, but none specifically covering the subject: "If the dead started to walk while you are at work could you survive?" -------- If you were at work, and the bodies of the recently dead returned to life, and started attacking the living could you survive? could you make it home across town? if not where would you hold up at? What items at your workplace could you turn into a weapon to destroy the brain of the flesh eating ghouls? You can apply this to both Romero style shambling zombies, Dawn of the Dead 2004 fast running zombies, or Rage virus victims. ---------

I work VERY near Manhattan and live 1 1/2 hours away normally, so home wouldn't be an option. I'd have to try and get as far from manhattan as quickly as possible (probably by throwing my co-workers at the advancing hordes). I'm thinking steal a boat in the initial confusion and head up the Hudson to a fairly isolated area after looting a few stores for arms.

I like my chances of surviving a shambler scenario though they wouldn't be the best circumstances. I'm on the outskirts of the city so its not too populated around my work area and I'm only a 15min drive from home; however I face two major issues
1) Its an accounting office so aside from the Swiss Army knife I keep in my desk (I use it as a box/letter opener) there's not much else aside from heavy books or folders to utilise as weapons.
2) Its near 2 busy roads and it mightn't take too much for these roads to become impassable by car.
So I'm pretty much left with huffing it on foot turning the whole thing into a 1hour (minimum) trek which might not be the most safest option, but my first instinct is to huff it back to my place because I'd rather not be stuck at the office.
I just plotted out the directions on google maps and I think I might be zombie chow trying for that option. But I'd have to try.

I would be pretty screwed since the only firearm I have would be useless. I would have to drive home to get my shotgun and .45, but I might fare ok since my house is only 15mins away from work. If push came to shove I could barracade my work building. I work in a clean room with no windows and only 2 ways in/out. there is plenty of heavy machinery that could block doors until I figured something out. Plus we have magnetic locks on the doors that require a key fob so they would be impossible to open if the power went out.

I'm unemployed at the moment as well - it feels quite crap actually. I like to think i'd stand a good chance if an outbreak occured when i was at work. Building site = lots of potential zombie bashing weapons. A crowbar, reckin' bar, sledge hammer, circular saws. I could even use my trusty trowel. Fire Arms are hard to come by over here though so Shaun and his mates would have been screwed without that Winchester.
