I made this thread to discuss the Resident Evil games since they deal with zombies. Plus, it's one of the raddest series ever.
My favorite will always be Resident Evil 2 followed by the original, non-director's cut!

Resident Evil 2 is definitely my favourite as well. Out of all the games made it is the one I have played the most and the first one I actually beat. What I loved about it was how after you completed the main campaign with either Claire or Leon you could then go onto play the B campaign with the other character. It was cool seeing how their stories intertwined and how they differed. It offered up a lot of replayability. Resident Evil 1 (original version) was the first version of RE I ever played. Being quite young at the time though I found it quite hard - Jill was too weak, and Chris had a shitty inventory capacity and was always short of ammo and lacked Jill's Grenade Launcher. I'm so glad in RE2 both character's were balanced and got decent sized Inventories. It made the game a lot easier for me back then, also it helped that you could obtain a submachinegun early on in the game. Also I only just realised that if you took the SMG in the A Campaign then it wouldn't be available to the other character in the B campaign. That's a pretty cool touch though having actions from the A game affect the B game.

I've been a fan of the series since the first one came out for PS1.
I think my favorite is the first, followed by 4.

For a second I thought you were talking about Code Veronica X. Damn Capcom and their weird numerical system. Never played part 4 or 5 (I own 5), but they look like a welcome change compared to the old stilted camera angles of the older games. I still love the old games for nostalgic reasons, but goddamn are some of those camera angles terrible. Worst part is its usually forced on you at moments where you really need to see what the hell is going on.
Did any of you guys ever get into the Resident Evil: Outbreak Games?

I LOVE RE GAMES!! I'd have to say RE 4 (Gamecube) is probably my fave with RE 2 (PS1) a close 2nd. I hope RE6 has the game mechanics of Dead Space which I really enjoyed, having said that I played RE5 with the move and that really added something to the gameplay. I have to say tho, RE1 had some great memories for me - the first zombie, the dogs jumping through the window and my little girl pucking up the hoover head ang saying 'dugga dugga' lol

Yeah the first zombie encounter in part1 is probably the most memorable moment out of all the games. Also it was cool how if you tried to open the mansion's front door again a Dog's head would suddenly burst through the gap and try and rip your throat out. It was a nice little addition I thought rather then just display "It's too dangerous to go outside." when you tried to open the door again.
The only Resident Evil game I regret buying was Resident Evil: Outbreak Case#2. The outbreak games were essentially made for Multiplayer, but you could still play single player with them... except for Case#2. It's pretty much broken. I couldn't even get past the first level, because the teammate AI is too stupid to help you move a particular obstacle so you're pretty much stuck in the first level (In a zoo I think). I don't know how they botched it up so badly considering in Case#1 there were obstacles that could be moved with one person and the AI would help you push it the minute your character started pushing too.

I downloaded RE2 from the PS3 store not too long ago. Man I am so rusty at this game. I remember I used to be able nail the beginning sequence in my sleep. Easily running past every zombie I encounter before the Police Station without firing a single shot. I don't remember the character handling being this clunky though because I got my ass handed to me before I had even reached the Station. I hate how it isn't Dual Analogue compatible though. I find I can't play the game for too long before thumb fatigue requires me to take a break. You just can't beat the Xbox controller IMO for comfortable gaming. Its so ergonomic and well designed that I can play 5+hours without once getting thumb or finger fatigue.
