AKA aka Blood & Black Lace
A thriller horror film directed by Mario Bava. A masked killer stalks & kills beautiful women from a fashion house.
This film kind of confused me for most of it until things fell together in the end. Anyway, this film is really stylish with a great score, beautiful cinematography, some nice shocks, great mood, & beautiful scenery & settings. I love how the killer looks. He wears a long, black leather coat, a faceless mask, & a fedora type hat. Very creepy. At one time, he uses this weapon with three claws on it to kill.
This film is considered an early giallo & also helped pave the way for body count films. Of course this one was done in a more stylish fashion than a lot of the movies it inspired.
*Spoilers*
The plot confused the hell out of me at first until I put the pieces together. Max & Cristina were the killers. Max mostly. Cristina murdered her first husband before the movie took place & married Max. One of the fashion models, Isabella found out about this & blackmailed her a lot of money until it finally went too far. Max then dressed up in killer garb & murdered her. Then they found out about Isabella's diary where she wrote of the blackmailing & murdered two girls they thought were in possession of it. Peggy had burnt it in the fireplace & before that, Nicole was going to give it to Frank, Isabella's former lover. Peggy burnt it because it had some of her secrets in it too. Then all of the men are arrested, including Max so Cristina kills Greta to give Max & the other men a tight alibi. Then they both are agree to kill Tao-Li(who is fucking beyond hot) & make it look like a suicide so the police will think she was the killer. Max double-crosses Cristina & makes it look like she fell to her death after leaving the house after murdering Tao-Li by cutting the drain-pipe's attachment to the house. Cristina survives & shoots Max at the fashion house, where she also dies from the injuries sustained in her fall. Nice clever little plot there. It'll be more clear the second time I watch it.
Give it a watch.
