This is probably one of the few things that urks me about Savini's Night. Why did he have to make Tom and Judy such goobers? In the original, Tom is pretty level headed. In this version he seems more like a Jim-Bob. What gives?

I'd say that they were trying to develop the characters.
In the original, they were bland and forgettable.
In the remake, they tried to make them rednecks to at least give them a little flavor.

Best line of the movie:
"Judy Rose, slow down! We lost Ben!"
My brother and I literally laugh our asses off every time. The way Tom's voice cracks like a pubescent 13 year old when he says "lost" is priceless. ;D

AHAHA
Don't know why, but that just makes me chuckle. Maybe it's the hat, or the look on his face.
"I know... I'll....I'll... I'll shoot the lock off!"

What retard fires a lock off of a gas pump? Jones did it in Night '68. And he was one smart retard. ;D

Here's a different take on it- stereotypes of 1990 vs. 1968. Here's a guy whose family lives a "rural" lifestyle- farms, firearms, pickup trucks, etc. In '68 that was no big deal, but in '90 (and almost more so now) that lifestyle is associated with "gooberism".

I'll admit that I liked the remake versions of Tom & Judy than the original versions.
