What seasons do you all see the films taking place in?
Here is how I view them:
Night: Late Fall, early Winter Dawn: Fall Day: Late Spring, early Summer (with FL it's hard to tell) Land: Fall Diary: Late Fall (Fall seems like the best season, since it's College and the main semester starts in the Fall)

Sounds about right, but day is set in October.

Ha, down here in Florida, that's still summer. Well then that would mean that all of the films reflect Autumn setting. It's a rather obvious choice.

In the original NOTLD, at the very beginning Barbara talks about the they're going to the Cemetary on the day of the spring time change.
"They ought to make the day of the time change the first day of Summer." she says.
"Why?" her brother replies.
"Because it's 8 o'clock and it's still light!"
In Dawn, it's obviously cold outside. But, there's no snow on the ground--which, in PA, would indicate Fall or Spring. Due to the fact that there's allegedly a Santa Claus biker running around the Mall, I'd put my money on Fall.
In Day, Steele says, "Hey...it's gonna be a loooong winter!" Coupled with the fact that the grass looks pretty dry and not overwhelmingly green, and the fact that they're running around outside with jackets on, I'd lay five to one that it's winter in Day.

But the calender indicates October, and the second calender at the end indicates November.

Which calendar?

He is talking about the calendar in the very first scene, where Sarah gets grabbed by the arms.
The thing that screams "Fall" to me is the grey skies. Usually during spring, the skies are not as grey as they are during Fall. Especially on that Ohio/PA area.

At the end of Dawn, there was a dusting of snow on the roof of the mall.

I thought he might have been talking about the calendar from the original NOTLD that we see briefly in the kitchen. The one that says 1966 on it. ;D The selection of that calendar in Day is simple--the Hispanic equivalent of Halloween is called "Day of the Dead", and it traditionally occurs on the first and second day of November.
