The closest I have been to being screwed on a DVD wasn't worth the hassle. The DVD only cost about $4. It skipped quite a bit, and I really couldn't watch it. I just didn't feel like doing the shipping and crap all over again.

Flyboy, what versions of Martin do you own? I know you're a collector, and I have a really old VHS copy of Martin that I haven't seen anywhere else. I wish I could find a picture online, as I don't have a scanner. Ah hold that thought, found it on imdb. This is what my VHS looks like: www.imdb.com/media/rm4087846144/tt0077914

I just own the Lions Gate DVD. I hate that they cut some of the top & bottom off to make it into widescreen. I don't mind full frame at all if a movie is filmed that way. Eventually I grab the Anchor Bay DVD off the net despite owning the Lions Gate DVD. I have about 43842843 versions of Dawn. A few versions of Martin won't hurt anything. I gotta get Knightriders sometime as well.
That VHS looks beautiful man. Where did you find such a gem!?

I actually got it years and years ago, when I was like 15, at a small local no-name video store that sold old shitty VHS tapes.
I haven't seen it anywhere else before or since then. Hell, since I'm not much of a collector of the same movie over and over, if I ever get Martin on DVD I'll send my VHS your way. The cover isn't in mint condition but it's pretty damn good.

Nice! It'd be cool to own it on VHS. I'd probably even pop it in now & then & watch it that way.
I'm really wanting to order the AB DVD sometime soon but I'm still weary about somehow getting the wrong version. If I ordered it & opened it up to find that it's the Lions Gate DVD that I already owned, I'd be fuming. Damn that person who sent me the wrong Pieces DVD. They've given me a new fear. Jerks! Hahaha.

My copy should be here later this week or early next. I hope that I don't get snookered. It's such a hassle mailing stuff back.

Finally got my copy today.
Love it. It's a really cool flick.
I have to say that Romero's lady was pretty cute in her day.
Oh, I didn't get screwed, it is the AB edition.

Glad you loved it & didn't get screwed over! Did it come with a mini-poster insert with chapter selections on the other side?

Sure did. The case it was in was broken, so I just put it in a new one... good as new.

I watched this again last night.
I understand the argument that Martin is just making himself believe that he is a vampire. But the thing that makes me wonder if he really is a vampire is his Uncle. If Martin is just living in some made up world, why does his uncle believe that he is Nosferatu?
On the other side of the argument, it is displayed that Martin seems mentally delayed. The way that he acts around others (especially women) leads me to believe that. When he has sex with that woman, the way he acts before and after just screams developmental delay.

I think Tada Cuda isn't all there either. He seems religious beyond the poiny of insanity.
I think Martin is definitely mentally disturbed. And it never helped that he had this vampire stuff shoved down his throat his entire life.

This movie gets better with each viewing although I thought it was pretty damn amazing the first time I saw it about three years back when I nabbed the Lions Gate DVD. Martin is a character that I really feel sympathy for despite him being a murderer & a rapist. Despite the many things he does wrong, you can't help but feel sorry for him. A lot of that has to do with Amplas' portrayal of Martin. He plays him very innocently. Normally, I wouldn't sympathize with a character who commits such actions but again that goes with John Amplas' performance. He's just that good. And no, I don't root for Martin when he's killing & raping. It's very ironic how Martin is killed over the death of Mrs. Santini, one of the people he cared about & didn't actually kill. I think she & Christina were the only ones he truly cared for. Another thing that's great about this is George's direction. I love his choice of shots of the rain pouring into a hanging plant or just rain dripping from the spouting. Plus, the raw & grainy look of the movie in general. I just wish I could experience the look in its proper aspect ratio. I STILL need to get the Anchor Bay DVD. But yeah, I love this movie. It's an overlooked gem that more people should check out. *Edit* Holy shit I want this! cgi.ebay.com/GEORGE-A-ROMERO-S-MARTIN-ORIGINAL-SOUNDTRACK-RECORD-LP_W0QQitemZ290334475291QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item439948841b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Sadly, I cannot afford it because I'm saving up all of my money for the move in a few weeks. The DVDs & shit I've been getting as of late are due to trade-in credit.

I would do another contest with it, but I don't think it would really help the posting. The last contest was designed to increase posting, which it didn't.
Where are you moving? I've seen you mention it a few times.
