Now I'm not asking the obvious, because I know he was the helicopter pilot.
What I'm wondering is, why him? He isn't a military pilot, which is what I'd expect to find in an operation like that. It's something I've wondered for quite some time. What sort of pilot is he? Was he forced to do this? Was he hired by the government?
Something to ponder.

A good question that I've wondered myself.
Perhaps he was a civilian pilot saved by the group.

Maybe it's his Copter. It looks like a private one. I thought that it was his copter and he stumbled upon everyone else. Perhaps that's why he has his own little place out in the caverns.

I think they probably absorbed him into their operation because in a situation like that, they didn't have an ideal personnel staff standing nearby. They had to take who they could get. Which I suppose explains why Rhodes rose to the top.
