Ok people we all know throught the films there are always some zeds that show some intellegence than others. There are actually some I saw in "Dawn" yesterday that I never noticed til now. So maybe we should all make a list of it. I'll start! Night of the Living Dead: -The Cemtery Ghoul getting a rock and hitting the window of the car with it. - A Ghoul getting a rock and hitting one of the windows of the house in the Final invasion of the Farmhouse. - Karen killing Karen with a garden towel. Dawn of the Dead - One of the zeds getting a ironcrow(or whatever it is). - The Hare Krishna Zombie opening the door. - The female zed trying to using a telephone during the Biker Raid. - The Screwdriver Zombie just standing there to jump on someons til someone passes by. Day of the Dead -The zeds trying not to get caught by Steele at the corral because of fear but, their hunger prevents them from backing down. - Obviously Bub I'm sure theres alot more but, I've got to go. Feel free to add!

You named quite a few.
The zeds in Land were highly evolved, almost too much.
In Dawn, Flyboy eludes to the idea that a good deal of their actions are faint memories of when they were alive, hence the mall. This is evident in Bub. He knows how to work a pistol and recognize that Rhodes is Military. Pretty interesting stuff.

Wasn't a lot of what motivated them supposed to be based on instinct mixed with memories limited to varying degrees by the effects of decay on brain function? 'Little or no reasoning power' whilst retaining 'basic skills' and the overriding instinct and desire to feed!

So much for "these creatures are nothing more than pure motorized instinct".
