Sorry if this has been discussed before, but i didn't see anything. How come Dr. Logan never became a zombie? Or was it implied that he was shot in the head, but just never showed it? I always wondered if I was just missing something about this. Anyone help me out? dschoenike

That's a good question. Perhaps him being in the freezer slowed down the transformation. I'm sure he eventually re-animated & went off into the sunset with his pal Bub.

The sight of him and Bub, hand in hand, on the beach.
Now that's creepy.

Thanks for responding. I remember listening to an audio interview with Richard Liberty (shortly before his death) and the interviewer brought up that very question. Unfortunately, he never directly answered the question, but went off on a story about how it took a few takes to film him getting shot up, and laying there trying not to breath, on the freezer floor. It was an interesting interview. Found it on youtube a few months back. Now here's a question that "kinda" ties in to my original question How do zombies know if other beings are really zombies, or just faking being dead? (shaun of the dead) Did Bub freak out cause he knew Dr. Logan was no longer alive, or because he knew he wouldn't come back as a zombie? I have so many silly questions dschoenike

Not silly questions at all, but rather legit arguments.
I would assume that zeds know one another by a scent that they put off. Necrotic flesh expels gasses. Perhaps the zeds can pick up on these scents.
How did Bub know that Logan wasn't coming back? No idea, it's interesting.
The Richard Liberty interview is on the 2 Disc Day set.

Anyways, he had possibly created a way for himself never to become a zombie.

The sight of him and Bub, hand in hand, on the beach. Now that's creepy. I think it's romantic. Haha.

I see Bub as Logan's puppy.
It's pretty gut-wrenching when Bub gets upset at seeing Logan dead. Probably the most tender moment in the whole film.

I just assumed we never got to see Logan reanimated, but that he did.
As far as how zombies can tell if people are human are not... this is addressed in the Zombie Survival Guide. I always subscribed to the whole "zeds can detect human heat signatures" theory, or something along those lines. They could smell or sense warm blood and flesh.

Just about every animal (except humans) is able to pick up on blood in a second. If we are to assume that zeds can smell the blood, then they are evolving in a way, instead of regressing to lesser abilities.

They sure smelled the blood of the dumb biker who decided to test his blood pressure in Dawn of the Dead. What a moron.
