I saw another copy of this for like $3 yesterday at a pawn shop. The previous owner wrote their name on the disc so I passed on it. May end up getting it anyway. Haha.

I actually prefer to watch Day only on down and dirty VHS.
On DVD, due to the clarity, it's painfully obvious that the zombie extras are just that--chumps in make-up shambling around and moaning. Hell, in a lot of cases, you can actually see where the make-up appliances end and the actors' real faces begin....

There are only 2 reasons for me to watch a vhs:
1. Nostalgia 2. Lack of availability on DVD
Neither reason includes the hiding of special effects.

I still have a buttload of VHS and a VCR. I do own some movies on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray(looking at you Dawn) but I may revisit it on VHS someday just for nostalgia's sake since that's the first way I saw the movie back in the late 1990s.

Not even nostalgia would get me back on VHS. I used to have the original NOTLD on VHS and its so damned dark you can barely make out what's happening sometimes. I just can't stand the low quality of VHS anymore

I agree with you all unless the VHS is off a rare film, have some extra/extended scenes or behind the scenes not avaliable on dvd I don't see myself going back to it.
Especially, films like "Day" and Freddy's Revenge where you literally can't see nothing in those films at times.

Anybody own this on Blu-ray? I haven't watched it all the way through but I did watch the feast scenes at the end and they're pretty damn colorful.
The subtitles are hilarious because they fuck up Rhodes' "CHOKE ON 'EM!" with "Oh, god no." Hahahaha.

Last night I watched it, decided to go to bed then placed it on loop. This morning it was still going. There is something special about waking up to zombies.
It has been quite a while since I have watched this and watching it last night caused me to acquire a love for it. I have always liked it but not quite loved it. My gut reaction to Miguel's character was always negative, I never cared for Rhodes, Rickles or Steele. Somehow last night it came together. Right now the original trilogy is perfect for me, perfect.

Right now the original trilogy is perfect for me, perfect. It really is. Honestly people can nit-pick all they want but to me, the original trilogy is absolutely untouchable. George will never make a film of that caliber again, and no zed flick in general will ever come close.

Not sure about Miguel, but I'm sure Romero purposely made the soliders unlikable for a reason. Sarah, John, and Mcdermott are the characters your suppose to relate and care about if anyone at all.
