This version runs 156min (PAL) and is often called the Ultimate Final Cut, as Krekel edited together material from every available version. Although this is by far the longest version of Dawn of the Dead, it is despised by many fans as the pacing is much slower and has a less than professional German language soundtrack.

I think its hated because its only in German. I actually heard from a friend who is a big fan of Dawn that a magazine caled 'Dark' said Dawn run over 3 hours. Sadly he didn't get to read much and when came back to get the magazine it was gone. Too bad because it had a few scenes that GAR said that were cut from Dawn. He can remember 2 of them though.

Yeah it being in German is definitely a huge step down unless someone is fluent in it. I'm not, unfortunately.

I'd love to track this down just for collector's purposes.

I have a recently created extended cut called "The Extended Mall Hours Cut". I have never watched the German version. But I'm sure this one is basically the same but with the original English audio.

I finally gave my German copy a quick look.

If anyone didn't see it before, do not order from that retailer I mentioned above. Terrible service. It took him 3 weeks to ship out the dvd. He gave me some freebies for my trouble. For him being in Louisiana, it should have taken about 4 days to get it. Every time I emailed him it was "tomorrow". End Rant.

The copy is from Astro, as noted in the Wiki article. The picture quality is something to be desired, but since it's OOP, it's doable.
