I'm not a fan of the added scenes, although I do think it was cool that Bill Hinzman reprised his role as the cemetery zombie.
But aside from that, I agree... it's pretty shitty.

I remembered when this was just a rumor....... (Night 30th Anniversary Edition with new footage in) ...and unfortunately that somehow happened!

Bill Hinzman, was great in the movie; but this edition was horrid. I am actually not much a fan of NotLD anyways, I do sort of like the 90's remake but it still wasn't that good in my opinion.
I have omitted NotLD from my Georgie collection. My collection is simply as follows Diary, Original Dawn, Original Day and Land.
Diary was in reality a way for Romero to replace the Night of the Living Dead, because he no longer claimed it in the series as it is public domain.

Romero still very much claims NIGHT in the series... don't know where you're getting your info from.

I am confused.
They changed the music for the 30th edition? Added new scenes? How did Hinzeman reprise his role when the film was made 40 years ago?

I saw a video of him talking about it, He said something along the lines of "Its the one that got away, oh well it wasn't what I had planned on anyways. In Diary, we will be going back to the beginning to rewrite history."

They changed the soundtrack on both the 30th Edition and the 98 Edition. Its pretty cheesy. The scenes are new, and are also pretty bad. I can see that maybe some of them might be well intentioned (there is kind of a cool scene of zombies feasting on the occupant of a wrecked car as a newscaster is heard in the background) but the rest are junk. Hinzeman dons the makeup and plays the same character. A couple of rednecks pick up the body (Hinzmans) at the mortuary and throw it in the truck enroute to the cemetary. As they are about to bury him he re-animates - this leads to how he came to be in the cemetary at the beginning of the original NOTLD.

So they added in new footage filmed 30 years later?

Yep. Romero has nothing to do with the footage. Its kind of like if a high school student decided to add on to the original Phantasm or Halloween.

And it's so bad too, cause the new footage doesn't gel with the original footage at ALL.

If John Russo was half as great as he thinks he is, he'd still be 100x better than he actually is. Ditto for Bill Hinzman. Did you guys ever check out the apology that the Director of "Children of the Living Dead" made at IMDB? That sums those to little gimp bitches up.

Is Russo responsible for the 30th edition? If so, I wonder if it wasn't meant as a bash towards George. Even then, why go through the trouble?
