I have always wondered about this one and I couldn't find it posted earlier.
In the end of the movie: Why does Peter first decide to stay (and I guess kill him self), while Fran climbs the ladder to the chopper?
He of course changes his mind, fight his way up to her ... but why not just follow Fran up right away?

Simply put, I think he'd just plain given up. His "home" was in a shambles, and his friends were dropping like flies, and he had lost faith in the rest of humanity.
That's my guess, anyway.

223 hit it right on the head. That's exactly what it was. There was no point in going on in his mind. He was ready to accept the "inevitable". But then some awesome A-Team music kicks in and he karate kicks his way to the helicopter.

This right here. It makes perfect sense & I agree 100%. Perhaps he figured that he'd die sooner or later anyway due to the state of things of around him & he thought that it didn't matter if he died then & there. I think he then started to think about Fran & the baby so he decided to go with her so he could look after them for as long as possible until he or she died.

But why does he have the sudden urge to do a Rambo and bust through all the zeds? and how does he do it without being bitten?

Shit I could've sworn I posted in this thread... well anyway Because Peter is one bad mutha. Damn right. He's a big dude, who's quite strong and agile for someone his size so fighting his way through a bunch of shambling zombies shouldn't be a thing for him. As for why he had a change of heart, I always just thought it was because of his survival instinct and the fact that he couldn't stand to let Fran fend for herself while pregnant. After all it would be a pretty selfish and dickish move to just lay down and die when there's someone who really needs his help.

It would take slot of mental and physical strength to keep on moving in a world of the undead; I don't think I could honestly handle it myself.

It would certainly take its toll on you psychologically. World War Z illustrates that well I thought. Dealing with an enemy that never sleeps or tires, and losing friends and loved ones without having time to grieve over them. Shit you'd have to be insane or a sociopath to not be affected by any of that.

And no place on earth would be safe. Day proved being underground is just as bad as above ground. Land proved that water isnt a safe haven either, the possiblitly of "Swimming Zombies" was shown in the movie.

I thought they weren't so much swimming as they were walking on the bottom of the water, but that doesn't make them anyless creepier.

The only reason shit hit the fan was because: A. they kept a corral of zeds down there, and B. Miguel went loco and let em all through the gate and down inside. If they had just been hiding underground without either of those two issues, I don't think they would have had any problems surviving a while.
