What if Romero made a sequel to his original 1978 classic? I'm not talking Day of the Dead, I mean a legit sequel to Dawn.
It could either:
A. Pick up right where the original left off, but obviously new actors would have to portray Peter and Fran.
or
B. Be set 30 years later, and somehow Peter and/or Fran were still alive, surviving.
I think it might be interesting to see Ken Foree reprise his role as Peter. I'm not really sure I'd like this whole idea to actually happen, but it was a thought I had today and I wanted to get everyone's thoughts/ideas on it.

I think I'd rather see the sequel that takes place 30 years later because I don't know how I'd feel with someone else playing Peter & Fran.
But then again it would be cool to see what happened to the characters right after Dawn is over & to see some further adventures from them.

Actually a direct sequel is in the works. This from wikipedia:
Richard Rubinstein, is planning to re-release the original Dawn in 3-D. He has plans to create a new sequel to the film as well

I've read that too. I'm pretty sure the 3D Dawn will happen, but not so sure on the vague "sequel"... it could be ANYTHING as far as we know, and I can almost guarantee that Romero won't be involved (nor Ken Foree or Gaylen Ross).
EDIT: Did a little looking, and it looks like this project is dead. Either way, I found out it was supposed to be a sequel to the remake and not the original.

I remember hearing about the 3-D but haven't heard anything about a sequel.
I remember hearing something about a sequel to the remake like Tony mentioned. Something about the survivors of it or whatever.
Then we got the Day of the Dead remake, which I originally thought would be a sequel to DOTD '04 especially with Ving Rhames being in it as well. I still need to watch it. Haha.

I doubt it. If I can live through the atrocious Halloween remake & still love the original Halloween, I can do so with the Day of the Dead remake.

Hmm. Sounds like it could be cool, especially if Tony Todd is in it. I wonder what the status is nowadays since that article was from last May. Thanks for linking the article, rijir.

Oh wow, that is quite interesting. I would hope that they weren't planning on using Tony Todd as a replacement for Ken Foree... there is, afterall, only one man who can play Peter in my eyes. It might be cool if Tony Todd played the brother that Peter mentioned.

I would prefer a 30 years later aspect. With that, you could also find out what happened right after they left the mall. It would be interesting to see Peter and Fran with Flyboy's baby.

If they did a sequel with different actors it wouldn't bother me, I'd be interested to see what became of the characters when they run out of helicopter fuel. I'm more interested in character development, story and zeds then seeing a faithful sequel with all the same actors.
I should note The reason I'm not so fond of a sequel 30 years later with the original actors is because too much time will have passed and we wouldn't get to see what happened to them in that time. Also the way I always looked at it is after 10 or 15 years the zeds would be so badly decomposed they'd hardly be able to move without breaking apart or whatever and become such a minor threat that any survivors would be able to retake the lands again. Also seeing an elderly Ken Foree try and battle zeds doesn't exactly inspire much excitement in me.

Actually Ken Foree could still pull off Peter. He stil has it and still basically looks the same. His most recient film that I know of is Halloween (2007). He's Joe Grizzly! He's still got it.

I read that GAR has seen some of the 3D DAWN and was very impressed. So that probably means that it's either almost done, or is done and is just waiting to be released.

Nice. I'd love to see it on the big screen if it's released around here.
