We all know that Contagium sucked big time and it didnt even have a connection with the orginal film. What would have been your ideal follow up to this film?
Here was mine:
Day of the Dead II
Story: 5 years after the events of the orginal film, DOTD 2 focuses on the futher quests of Sarah, John, and Billy as they try to find survivors of the zombie holocaust.
They eventually stumble upon what appears to be an abandoned bomb shelter, they enter the bomb shelter and discovers a colony of survivors, 38 total. One of them turned out to be the brother of the demented Captian Rhodes. Sarah realizes that it would be impossible to use the chopper seeing as that there are way too many survivors, the bunker has been overrun, and the chopper is on an near empty tank, luckily the survivors have a large arsenal of weapons.
Sarah, John and Billy lead the surivors to safety but they end up facing the world of the zombies.

I'm not so sure about the brother of Rhodes idea... seems kinda far-fetched and cheesy. The rest doesn't sound that bad... although I'm not sure how they'd stumble across a bomb shelter on an island. Besides, they escaped to paradise... I'd like to think they lived out the rest of their days in some sort of happiness.
I don't think a Day of the Dead 2 would really work... a Dawn 2 might since the first one left off with Peter and Fran going off to who-knows-where... and they certainly didn't make it to an island, so they are still in a world full of zombies.

Another DOTD II idea i had was called "The Chronicles of Captian Rhodes" where it would focus on the background story of Rhodes, leading up to the events of the orginal film. I had Edward Norton in mind to play Rhodes in my idea but i doubt he would want to star in a Zombie film.

I like the sound of your idea but I'm not so open to the idea of Rhodes' brother being down there. I guess it depends on how it was handled, but if went the path of "They killed my brother, I will have my revenge" its a bit of an old movie cliche.
Personally I would love them to do a sequel where they use George's original script for the story. Even if they just changed the names of the main characters that would be awesome.

The idea i posted would include a dream sequence simular to Terminator 2, where Miguel would visit Sarah in her dream and warn her of her fate.
I also thought about having Riley from LOTD being thier son but i thought that would be too corny.

They already messed up BIG time with Day Of The Dead 2, and I personally think Romero's classic version should be left alone, also, why all the Dead remakes? I mean look:
Night of the Living Dead (1990) Night of the Living Dead 3D (2007) Dawn of the Dead (2004) Day of the Dead (2008) Day of the Dead 2: Contagium (2005)
So, in other words Hollywood, STOP making these SHITTY remakes (although DOTD 2004 was quite good) and leave Romero's DEADs alone!!!!

In addition to thinking DOTD '04 was good, I also loved Night '90. I thought it was a great remake. I like it & the original about the same these days. Day of the Dead 2 was an abortion though. I still own Day '08 but haven't mustered up the strength to watch it yet. I've heard that Night 3D is absolutely terrible but I'd like to watch it sometime.

If you thought that DOTD2 was bad... DOTD '08 will knock your socks off. Mena Suvari is horrid in it. Her performance in American Beauty and Spun actually made me think she had a tiny ounce of talent.

In my opinion, very few of them are really shitty. Actually Hollywood only made 2 remakes of Dead films (Night 90 and Dawn 04) and both were pretty good. Day of the Dead and Day of the Dead 2 had nothing to do with the original film. Night 3D was just a fun little indie film, nothing like the the original or the 90 remake. As long as Romero keep making sequels to the original series, there is nothing to complain about.

Hi everyone. Great forum. How about a Day of the Dead 2 done from the perspective of a prequel? Has anyone seen the transcript of the front page of the Southern Globe newspaper with the 'The Dead Walk' headline that is seen at the beginning of the film? It makes for a good read. There is mention of the Rescue Stations from Dawn and top scientists working on the problem from secure locations at the start of the epidemic. Dr (Michael - it was interesting to find out his christian name) Logan even gets a mention who's previous work according to conspiracy circles would apparently have violated federal laws! So basically it might have been good to see everything falling apart in Florida from Sarah's perspective perhaps, and the civilian/military teams being assembled and people losing and/or leaving family etc during the process. Just a thought

I wouldn't have minded a prequel if it would've been made shortly after the original Day like within a year or two after it came out. I don't think George could pull it off in this day & age, especially since we'd need new actors to portray the Day characters. Not to mention the quality of the effects wouldn't be as good or inventive as they were in Day. It would be a cool idea though & I've always wondered where those people were before the outbreak & how they got there in the bunker. Welcome to the board! Nice to have you here.
