When a remake of a classic horror movie is about to come out, fanatics already talk crap about it? Like when Jackie Earl Haley was announced as the new Freddy, people kept saying "It should be Robert Englund, No Rob, no Nightmare."
Isnt the point of a remake is to have......new actors? lol

That style of talking doesn't bother me that much since die hard fans are set in their ways. Its understandable they might be averse to some new director coming along and recreating their favourite franchise/cult movie with their own vision; also possibly changing all the things they loved about the original, so I won't hold that against them. What I hate though is the crowd that makes Melodrama of it and completely overreacts to the decision with views like "I swear if they make this movie I'm gonna blow my brains out/stick my dick in a blender! etc".
Its like Jesus dude calm down. If you are so averse to a remake don't watch it. Most people who hate remakes will either yield and watch it or just avoid it completely and stick with the originals that they love.

I used to get pissed when I would hear about something being remade. Now, I don't really care as much since there are some remakes out there that I like.

Yeah Remakes seem to be for the most part good cash cows for Film companies because of the built in audience, and I don't believe we'll see an end to them any time soon. Generally though there should be sufficient time between each remake, like 15-20 years (10 years minimum), where maybe the story could benefit from a re-imagining to make it more relevant to the present, and occassionally some present day bigger budget special FX add to them nicely but they should never be the main focus.
