Survival of the Dead Release Date News

Fango got the word on exactly when U.S. fans will be able to check out SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD, the latest in George A. Romero’s zombie chronicles. This time, the action is set on Plum Island, where the long-running feud between the O’Flynn and Muldoon clans takes an especially gruesome turn with the arrival of not only the flesheating undead, but a rogue group of National Guardsmen as well.

Magnolia Pictures picked up the movie for its genre-centric Magnet Releasing banner, and is currently slated to debut it as a video-on-demand title April 30 and then in theaters May 28. Theaters in late May... which means only a handful across the country. Then we'll have to wait another 3-4 months to see it on DVD. Looks like we'll get a chance to see it next FALL.

Looks like I'm going to have to Import the DVD. If its hardly getting any airplay in the states that means it'll virtually get none over here

How does it make any sense to release this on PPV before theaters?

Good point as I would've thought releasing it before it plays in theatre runs the risk of it being pirated more easily, and then they risk making less revenue in the theatre.

I love him to death but I think it's time to give up the zombie movies.

As big of a fan I am of his, his spark slowly started fizzling out after Day of the Dead. Sure, movies like Bruiser, Two Evil Eyes, & Land of the Dead are good ones but they still aren't on par with his earlier work.

I think George will probably keep making zombie movies as long as he can.

Can't wait to see Survival to see the Playstation One & 1995-1999 PC style CGI!
