I've heard nothing but bad things here, and honestly I'm not surprised at all. The sad part is, it made a ton of money opening weekend here in the states which practically guarantees a sequel.

Didnt think much of the remake,it was alright at best but not scary at all,i was enjoying the bodybag scene till she started screaming then i just laughed, there was no party scene,no "thats his mark isnt it?" scene, nancy was just kinnda floating around for the 1st half an hour,i did like the scene where freddy has nancy trapped in the room,it was pretty dark and perverted lol watch the elm street legacy instead of this.

I thought it was rather decent.
Things I liked about it:
-No silly Freddy running through the alley, that fucking scene kills me every time. -Freddy seems a bit creepier now that he is a child molester -A bit more backstory, much deeper than the original -Freddys look and Jackie Earle Haley, looked more burnt compared to just having a hamburger face -Takes place in the midwest, the original is much more vague
Dislikes: -The girl that played Nancy. Horrible. -Nancy's mom.. blah -CGI use on Freddy's face (minimal, but still....)

I thought it was awesome I don't get all the bad reviews. I liked the backstory and freddy burned look, I agree with most of what Flesh eater said ( well the likes but not the dislikes). The last scene was absolutely gory and great.

My hopes aren't too high for this but I'd like to check it out sometime. It's not a high priority though. I'll see it when I see it I guess.

I didn't hate the remake, which is to say that it was okay in my book. Better than most of the Elm Street sequels we've had (I'm looking at you, parts 4, 5 and 6).
*SPOILER* They tried to pull a PSYCHO in this remake and it didn't work whatsoever (killing off who the audience thinks will be the main character partway in). They had that charming, attractive blonde actress carry the first third of the movie and then we switched to Nancy, an emo gutter-wench with no screen charm whatsoever. Horrible move. *END SPOILER*
But the Freddy sequences were almost all great, save for the horrid CG effects (I'm looking at you, wall-Freddy and mirror-Freddy).

I have to agree with you on Nancy, the emo crap annoyed me to tears. She was a very weak link in the story.

I am a HUGE fan of the Nightmare series and I can honestly say that this film was a piece of shit. I hate the way studios are taking classic horror franchises and sucking whatever cash is left in them and then claim that whatever they do will be better and more scary.

it was pretty decent, better than a few of the sequels, the cgi was awful though, funny how they could do the "Freddy coming through wall" scene better in 1984 than now

Seems like we won't get any sequels to this, Friday the 13th, or any other horror from Planitum Dunes. They moved away from the horror genre, sadly. I applaud they way they took some of the best horror classics and updated them with today high standards and quality. Let's hope one day they will return.

I liked the remakes of Friday and Chainsaw but STILL have yet to see this. I doubt I'll watch it any time soon. Looks fuckin' abysmal as shit but I doubt it could be any worse than the two Rob Zombie Halloween films.
