The more I think about the Friday the 13th franchise, the more I realize I didn't really like any of them past part 2. Sure, they had their "fun" moments, but none of them were as scary to me as the first 2. The series really jumped it when part 3 was released in 3-D.

I also like the first 2 but they seem a little dated now. I prefer the remake which has similar plot and setting but much more slick and modern.

I love the first two but The Final Chapter is easily my favorite. I dig Part 3 but it's sliding down on my list these days. I'm enjoying A New Beginning more & more these days. Moreso than Jason Lives. I think it's underrated as hell & a fun entry in the series. The whole "but Jason isn't in it" nonsense is irrelevant to me because Jason is in it. He appears in dream sequences & hallucinations so he is in the film, just not committing any murders minus the two(or three if you count Tommy getting it) in the beginning dream sequence. As much as I like the remake, it doesn't compare to the original. And these days, I think it'd be impossible for me to like a modern remake over an original classic.

doesn't compare to the original ? It's the other way around. The original may be a classic, but it has dated. The only film in the series that comes close in quality to the remake is FVJ. and Perhaps Jason X. The older entries are fun and I enjoy them all , but they're not up to today standards. Just my opinion.

And you can stop trying to start arguments with me whenever possible because you're barking up the wrong tree. Here's another opinion of mine. I think you like the shittiest things possible when it comes to horror series & horror effects. But if that's what you like, cool. Whatever.

I grew up with this series. They are still my favorite movies of all time. The character himself is awesome and I enojy all of them for one reason or another. The first two are the best films in terms of suspense and scares and story and horror. Then when they brought the hockey mask into it, it became more of a fun event. It was brought to a higher level in terms of popular culture and you feel like you are trualy part of something being a Friday the 13th fan. We will always remember and enjoy what this great monster of a franchise was built upon, yet I still enjoy the hell out of each and every new entry.
