It's not about playing catch up with watching a shit load of movies, it's about appreciation. Truth! I'm glad I got into horror when I did because if I was just now getting into the genre, I'd probably be praising a bunch of shitty CGI-ridden wankfests. And my avatar would have something to do with Rob Zombie.

CGI is the best thing ever happened to cinema. Ugh. No it's not. If anything, it's the worst thing to ever happen to cinema because a lot of filmmakers rely on it to carry their movies instead of focusing on other things like plot, characters, etc.

I don't know whether to laugh or just hang my head & weep.

They definitely deserve praise. CGI is the best thing ever happened to cinema. You have GOT to be shitting me man. Not at all. Sure cheap CGI effects can look terrible , but I'm talking Hollywood here. Practical effects can look great too but they have limitations. Look at the obviously fake scene from the Pre-CGI Terminator film for example where Arnold repairs his eye you can clearly see it's a fake head. Or the crappy robot animation. It's because CGI wasn't available back then. and with CGI you can do everything you want.

Duh it's obviously fake looking because that was 1984. For the time, I think the head looked great & I still do to this day because of the hours they put into physically creating that. The same goes for the robot animation, which wasn't crappy in the least. It was innovative & creative, unlike the CGI of today because they rely too heavily on it. Terminator had loads of gags but it also was heavy in plot & character development for the main characters. Stan Winston was a genius & probably the greatest effects artist to ever live. Even better than Savini.

You picked out the wrong movie for bad effects.

Duh it's obviously fake looking because that was 1984. And thanks to CGI, effects are not obviously fake looking anymore.

I think he's just reaching now. It's no secret that The Terminator is my number one movie & that I live by it. I'm sure it being brought up was intentional. It's all good though because we're arguing with a guy that thinks The Day the Earth Stood Still remake had amazing effects.

Don't get me wrong I loved the Terminator I just used to it to show that effects were not as good pre-CGI.

Seriously do you not listen to us telling you to knock off constantly starting arguments? When we tell you to knock it off, that means don't do it again & not keep quiet for a few days & start up again.
I'm honestly beginning to think that you're mentally retarded or slow or something.
