Not sure if this has been posted already, but i read an interview with the producer of "of the dead", and she said Alan Van Sprang will be playing the same character from diary (national guardsman). Also said there will be lots more gore, and Greg Nicotero was just a cosultant for this film, he never visited the set. I'll post the link if anybody hasn't read it yet. dschoenike

Holy shit, this article is FULL of gems! For starters, it's confirmed again that it's not a sequel to DIARY. Also it seems as though there is a western theme. This could be very cool. Then, it's mentioned that in a scene they're using a practical effect to simulate a gunshot to the face! This is AWESOME news. Hopefully most everything is done this way! Greg Nicotero had very limited involvement. Bonus! More gore than DIARY. This quote made my fucking day: "This film is shot more traditionally. It's a much bigger movie, there's a lot more zombies, bigger scenes. It's just shot more like a traditional narrative, more like George's other films. Diary was much more experimental, a smaller budget, mostly young cast." Something I didn't like was this... We've got lots of stunts, we've got lots of CG, we've got lots of prosthetics, and a big cast." Both CG and prosthetics are mentioned together... we'll see how that goes. All in all, GREAT article. Definitely give it a read. Thanks for posting, dschoenike!

This gets me interested:
Quote: "Yes, that was originally what it was conceived to be, was a sequel and it was gonna sort of pick up and follow some of the surviving characters, and then George decided to follow just one character who had been glimpsed in a scene and take that character and see where they went. So I'm not going to say which character that was, but there is a character common between the two films. But it's not a sequel in any way, so you don't need to have seen Diary of the Dead to understand ...of the Dead or whatever we end up calling it. But it's nice because if you have seen Diary of the Dead you'll say oh my god, it's that guy! Or girl. Or zombie(laughs)."
Hmmm...
I haven't seen Diary enough to figure it out.

It states later who it is. The national guardsman who is shown briefly.

<------ Resident Tardbag
I should have read the whole thing.
Either way, it sounds promising. Is it possible that ole Georgie is going back to his roots?

Dude I don't want to jump the gun or anything, but this article has me REALLY optimistic. The same here. The fact that they label Diary an "Experiment" says everything. GAR knows what did and didn't work. The cowboy theme sounds freaking awesome, something very different, which is what worked for GAR in the old days. I hope it gets a decent theatrical release.

Yeah the western thing really got me pumped. Imagine... shooting zeds on horseback! And then that grizzly scene with zombies and a horse carcass. Man this is gonna be good.
I don't know why, but I'm getting a little bit of a DAWN taste in my mouth. I can't freaking wait!
(I secretly know that I'm getting my hopes way too high and that I'm likely to be let down, but I like getting excited. Shhh.)

I'm willing to say that this is going to be the best GAR zed flick since DAWN.
I just might end up eating crow come next year.
I'm pumped as well. I am starting to think that both Land and Diary were just things that GAR needed to get out of his system. Late blooming growing pains. Every film maker needs to try new things and see how they work. Look at Phantasm III. That is a complete departure from the rest of the series, only to be followed by the most Phantasmish flick, Oblivion. Don't let the nay sayers drag ya down, man.

The news was coming fast and furious there for a while, but it has died down. Albeit due to restrictions on the set. It's only a matter of time until we get to see what George has.

Yep. Have you guys seen those cut outs at the theaters where you can put your face in the position of Jason's victim? Pretty cool. It's amazing how some people are freaked out by that... I just don't get it.
