I will never understand all the hate you have for Hollywood. They actually make the best movies since they get the best directors, actors, writers, special effects etc. Examples for some good hollywood horror: All the Saw Films Hostel films Final Destination Films Dawn of the Dead Remake Land of the Dead Both Hills Have Eyes Remakes The Ring and its sequel The Grudge and its sequel Cloverfield Silent Hill Most of them are great and there are many more I forgot. I suggest you all to change your Anti-Hollywood attitude. Saw: Saw 1 was okay, after that, suckage. Hostel: Haven't seen it. Sounds like more Saw junk. Final Destination: Teenie bopper junk. Dawn Remake: Enjoyed it quite a bit. Land: Enjoyed it. Hills Have Eyes: Saw the first one, it was okay. Didn't bother with the sequel. The Ring & Ring 2: Enjoyed both. Just remakes of Ringu, which is also good, IMHO. Grudge & Grudge 2: Suckage Cloverfield: Have not seen it. Not really motivated to do so. Silent Hill: From what I have gathered, it's forgetable at best. As for my attitude towards Hollywood, I don't really have a "bad" attitude towards HW. I just don't care for 75% of the "HW" films, whatever that is. I agree with Flyboy, it is rather rude to ask someone to change their "attitude". How about you be more accepting of other peoples choices in film, eh? I suggest you refrain from making futher condesending comments.

People consider any film made by a big studio as "Hollywood". It doesn't matter if it was made in Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Colorado.. It's still "Hollywood" to them. I say, if it's a good movie, it's a good movie. Regardless of who backed it. I'm not a huge fan of Michael Bay, I really didn't know who he was before I saw Transformers. I remember watching the teaser for Formers and saying to myself "Who the F is Michael Bay?". I agree. I'm sure michael bay had something to do Armageddon back in 1998. up untill that i'd never heard of him. didnt he have a great deal to do with the texas chainsaw massacre remake?

I don't think Land is better then the first three, but unlike most, I do think it is very underrated and basically just as good as the first three. All the Saw Films Hostel films Final Destination Films Dawn of the Dead Remake Land of the Dead Both Hills Have Eyes Remakes The Ring and its sequel The Grudge and its sequel Cloverfield Silent Hill I think I'll opine here: All the Saw Films -first two = great, 3rd = good, 4th = crap Hostel films = crap Final Destination Films = 1st & 3rd = crap, 2nd = pretty good Dawn of the Dead Remake = complete crap, boarderline blasphemy Land of the Dead = great Both Hills Have Eyes Remakes - 1st = good, 2nd = crap The Ring and its sequel = complete crap The Grudge and its sequel = good films, but Ju-On is better Silent Hill = complete crap (Hellraiser meets Salem Witch Trials)

Since the last post here, there have been a handful of shitty looking CGI riddled horror films & a few decent remakes.
I think the only non-remake horror film I want to check out is Drag Me to Hell but mainly because it's a Sam Raimi film.

There are many other upcoming horror film I'm looking forward to : Wrong Turn 3, Saw 6, Final Destination 4, Halloween 2, The Descent 2, Zombieland, Daybreakers. Gonna be another great year for horror!

The only one I'm looking forward to is Zombieland. Final Destination 4 looks to be ok. The rest will suck ass with Halloween II as the leader of the suck ass pack.

Drag Me To Hell looked promising to me, but the previews had some of the shittiest CGI I've seen in a while sadly.

Sadly it seems Raimi isn't above CGI in this day & age, especially after helming the Spider-Man movies.

I agree. It's too bad there isn't a veteran horror filmmaker who hasn't stuck to his guns on practical effects.

If I made films, I'd stick to practical effects. I'd be shunned by Hollywood but probably wouldn't care because I'd rather make my own flicks then have some dipshit suit tell me what to do. I'd tell 'em all to suck it & give them the DX crotch chop.
