Personally I don't give a damn if this movie has CGI or not. It got great reviews, which is very, very rare for a horror movie these days. so I'm looking forward to watching it .

I'll watch it because it's a Sam Raimi movie and because he's a good director. Plus, I'm sure this film doesn't rely on CGI effects to carry it. I'm sure it has solid writing, characters, & directing.
Most horror movies these days suck because nobody knows how to write anymore, hires shitty actors, uses too many fake looking CGI effects that a blind person could see instead of some cool practical gags, are way too polished looking(horror is supposed to look gritty not all pristine!), & because the director is usually a hackjob like Rob Zombie, Uwe Boll, Paul WS Anderson, or random Saw sequel director, etc. I'll give credit to Zombie because it seems he uses practical effects for the most part.

& because the director is usually a hackjob like Rob Zombie, Uwe Boll, Paul WS Anderson, or random Saw sequel director, etc. . The Saw movies are brilliant, every single one of them. The inventive traps, the clever plot, the realistic gore . I don't get why so many people in the internet hate them so much.

Sorry dude, Saw V was the biggest piece of shit on the planet.

I liked the first Saw. Saw III was meh. None of the others looked like they'd be worth my time. If they looked brilliant, I'd be there with bells on. Each year when a new Saw film comes out, I just shrug my shoulders & pop in the original Dawn of the Dead.

I loved Saw I. Loved it. However, after that it was just a recycled version of the last film. By #5, they forgot what they were doing and just made shit up as they went along.

Like I've said before, I thought the first Saw was good. I thought it was overhyped as hell at the time of its release but I enjoyed what I "saw." Harhar get it!?
I like James Wan. I feel he's one of the better directors out there in this day & age. I've only seen Saw & Death Sentence but I enjoyed 'em both.
James Gunn is another director I like.

James Gunn is another director I like. Me too. I liked the film Slither. The "Grant" monster was great, some crazy special effects. The slugs were a rip-off (or homage?) of Night of the creeps though. He also wrote the script for Dawn remake which I love very much.

I am in agreement on the first Saw. That movie is pretty damn fantastic. It had mystery, and you know... PLOT.
After the first one, the Saw films just became a vehicle to display nonsensical, gruesome deaths.

I've seen some of the deaths & they look cool but gore & gruesome deaths don't automatically make a movie good. Hell, I thought some of the gore in Day of the Dead 2 was well-done for such a low budget but we all know how many cocks that movie sucks. A lot.
