I was born in February of 84, so I wasn't even a year old when DAY first came out.
I've just always had an attraction to 70s and 80s horror, even as a little kid. Something about them is much more special than when gets churned out in this day and age.
I'm glad you like this forum! We enjoy having you around!

I've always been into horror & a lot of other movies in general from the 70s & 80s. As a kid, my father used to rent a lot of action movies from the 1980s & early 1990s from a mom & pop video store & we'd watch them together. And when I hit my teen years, I kind of delved into horror & check out a lot of the essentials then would expand my horizons more & more. I'm still doing that to this day.
I just love the styles, trends, ways of talking, & reliance on practical effects of the 1970s & 1980s, especially the 1980s. I'm intrigued by how practical effects are pulled off because it's something I find very creative not to mentioned that they feel very inspired & are created with hard work. Something I don't feel with modern CGI effects at all.

I love old films to begin with. Add in the horror aspect and I'm set.
I have a ton of classic B horror movies. Some of them are so horrible, but I think they all deserve a view, and most of them turn out to be a really fun watch. I've been watching horror since I was a toddler, so it's just something that's been programed in I suppose. When I watch old movies, I still feel the magic. I don't get that with modern cinema (since the invention of computer graphics). When you look at the classic monster movies, or stuff as far back as The Phantom of the Opera, you have to wonder how they did these things.

I love both modern horror and 80s-90s horror and computer graphics don't bother me as long as they are done well. I also appreciate well-done practical effects.

I don't mind CGI to be honest as, long as it isn't the only thing a film has going for it. I find CGI a useful tool but, I do agree with some other people that it should be used only when needed. Like, Lord of the Rings or Dark Knight are perfect examples. As, long as they don't get in the way of story I'm alright(not to say pratical effects aren't guitly of this too).

I have nothing against CGI if done well and not overly relied. Prosthetic effects and make up will always work better for me though especially in horror and particularly in Z movies. By definition what occurs on screen needs to look real and tangible. Tom Savini was a master craftsman in that department.

Tom Savini was a master craftsman in that department. Agreed 100%! If CGI is used for something that's impossible to do practically, I say use it & make sure it's executed well but just don't rely on it for everything.
