I liked Tom Towels a lot in this. You see, it seemed like in the Night of the Living Dead 1990 version it was about taking the characters created for the 1968 classic and further developing them. They developed Barbra, Tom, Judy, Ben, and Mr. Cooper beyond who they were in the original and went much more into story line and character.

I remember this version coming out back when I was in high school, & I've been parital to it over the original ever since.

I did like the remake better than the original. Don't get me wrong, the original is great & scary as hell but I like this a bit better. Barb was more tough and not outta her gourd like in the '68 version. George had to fix his mistake..LOL. Just kiddin'. Great remake. Too bad the remakes of "Dawn" & "Day" bombed....well to me anyway.

Lucky for you there are color versions of the film out. [glow=red,2,300]And they are excellent, ever since the colorized version of original "Night" came out; I have considered it to wipe the floor with 90's Night.[/glow]

Big fan of the Night remake, but I'll sit the fence about which I like more.
Taken in context or on its own merits, the original kicks ass, but I find myself associating more closely with the remake's characters. Barbara, in particular- the notion of boarding myself up in order to fend off shambling zombies never appealed to me, and she and I would have been running into each other on our way out the door.
However, the sense of dread I get from both of them is not from the zombies themselves, but the feeling of forced claustrophobia. That whole locking yourself indoors business to await your demise scared the bejeezus out of me from the moment I watched the original when I was 9, and I think the original did a little bit better job of conveying that dread.

They're both equally good in my books. For a while I did favour the remake because the original version I had on VHS was so dark you could hardly see what was going on at times, but after getting a remastered version of the original on DVD I have begun to like it more.
The only thing I liked more about the original was the news reports which featured more heavily in it whereas in the remake I only recall the one news report before Tom and Ben broke the TV

I can only watch the original Night in black and white. That is how it is meant to be. I love the 1990 remake a lot. I think it is almost as good as the original, but the original is more scary.

I can watch the original in color but I prefer to watch it originally how it was filmed: in black & white. The most recent colorized version is really good but I still like the black & white version better. Adds to the creepy & almost documentary-like feel of the movie. The colorized version takes away both.

Every time I watch this, I always have an enjoyable time. It's just so damn entertaining & good. Not to mention it's paced very well. I don't recall a dull moment in this either. All remakes should be this good.

Definitely! I only wish the rest of the Romero-remakes were as good as this one. Dawn's alright as a remake, I guess, but it still feels like a completely different film. The rest were turd geysers.

I like the Dawn remake but the Night remake blows it out of the water. I'm almost certain Day '08 will be shit as will Night 3D.
