[glow=red,2,300]I just got my DVD in, that I ordered from Legends Film. Its the original film, but in color. Which was pleasant, because I can only stand a few black and white films, and NotLD isn't one of them. Has anyone else seen the colorized version? They made the zombies, look similar to Dawn of the Dead. The trailer, in color. www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5Pxlo-r3NI[/glow]

Is it the one that includes the black & white version as a bonus feature as well as the Michael Nelson commentary?

It's pretty good. The colourization is pretty good overall too.
I used to have this release but never got to the Mike Nelson commentary.
The 40th Anniversary edition is my favourite NOTLD '68 release at the moment.

The 30th Anniv. can rot in hell.[/glow]

For me this is a great edition, but the 40th has some really good special features... damn I'm tempted.

Colorized version makes it lose some of the atmosphere for me.

Colorized version makes it lose some of the atmosphere for me. Same here. Funny story: I was 11 years old the first time I ever saw NOTLD, and it was this colorized VHS by Hal Roach Studios (they badly superimposed their company title over the picture, after the main opening credits conclude). It was the only copy of Night that the video store had available that day, but it was around that time that I really started getting into zombie films, so I had to see it. A few months later, one of the movie channels played the original film at two in the morning. It was the first time I watched the B&W from start to finish, but after it was over, it had a greater impression on me than that color crap. I might check out this new release for the Mike Nelson commentary. That sounds pretty rad. I like to steal pens and paper clips off of people's desks when they aren't looking.

Whats great about the color release is that it has both. So if you are feeling nostalgic, watch the B&W. If you are watching them back to back and want them to look more cohesive, watch the color. I just like seeing what the make up looked like, or what they *made* it look like.

I like both versions. I just like to watch the color version before I watch Dawn, makes it more streamline.
